About Pesticides Division

The Pesticides Division of Maharashtra Agro Industries Development Corporation Ltd (MAIDC) has been actively involved in the manufacturing and distribution of a wide range of pesticides under the brand name "KRUSHI UDYOG." This division has been in operation since 1975 and has built a substantial portfolio of pesticides. Here are some key details about the Pesticides Division:

  • Product Range: The Pesticides Division manufactures and distributes a diverse portfolio of pesticides. Some of the pesticides produced under the "KRUSHI UDYOG" brand include Emamectin Benzoate, Profenophos, Glyphosate, Atrazin, Monocrotophos, Dimethoate, and Copper Oxychloride, among others.
  • Market Presence: Initially, the division had its presence in various regions of Maharashtra, but as of the present, its sales are primarily restricted to the state of Maharashtra. However, there are plans to expand sales across India and explore export opportunities.
  • Manufacturing Units: Pesticides are formulated and produced by Maharashtra Insecticides Limited (MIL), a wholly owned subsidiary company of MAIDC Ltd. MIL has two formulation units located at Akola and Lote Parshuram in the Ratnagiri District. Currently, a major portion of production takes place at the Akola unit.
  • Government Appointments: Since 2012-13, the Agriculture Department of the Government of Maharashtra has appointed MAIDC as a single agency for the supply of various chemical pesticides, fungicides, weedicides, and bio-pesticides. This appointment has enabled MAIDC to play a central role in the distribution of agricultural chemicals.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme: Starting from the financial year 2017-18, the Government of India implemented the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme for pesticides. Under this scheme, eligible farmers can directly purchase pesticides from manufacturers and receive discounts directly transferred to their bank accounts, streamlining the procurement process.
  • Upcoming Molecules: ** The division is continually expanding its product portfolio with new chemical pesticides and biological agents. Some of the upcoming chemical pesticides include Abamectin, Azoxystrobin, Buprofezin, Carbendazim, Chlorantraniliprole, Fipronil, and many more. Additionally, new biological agents such as Beauveria Bassiana, Trichoderma, Metarhizium anisopliae, and Bacillus Subtilis are also being introduced.

The Pesticides Division of MAIDC plays a crucial role in providing farmers with access to a wide range of pesticides and agricultural chemicals, contributing to pest control and crop protection efforts in Maharashtra and potentially across India. The division's expansion plans indicate its commitment to serving the agricultural community more comprehensively in the future.
